Social Science Trends ｜ Guangzhou Learning Salon held a seminar on ＂Insisting on Walking with the Truth and Keeping Pace with the Times＂
On the afternoon of April 29th, sponsored by the Propaganda Department of Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Guangzhou Social Science Association, and hosted by Guangzhou Philosophy Society and Guangzhou Key Base for Training Young Marxist Theoretical Talents (Marxist College of Guangzhou University), the seminar on learning the history of China’s communist party by General Secretary of the Supreme Leader was held in Guangzhou Social Science Association, which was the second academic activity of Guangzhou Learning Salon in the 11th Guangzhou academic season.
Zeng Weiyu, Executive Vice Minister of Propaganda Department of Guangzhou Municipal Committee, Party Secretary and Chairman of Guangzhou Social Science Federation, Tan Xiaohong, Party member and full-time vice chairman of Guangzhou Social Science Federation, Professor Zhang Qixue, Vice President of Guangzhou University and President of Guangzhou Philosophy Society, and Professor Zhang Yanping, Deputy Director of Scientific Research Department of Guangzhou University attended the meeting. More than 30 experts and scholars from Sun Yat-sen University, Party School of Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences, Guangzhou University, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou City Vocational College, members of Guangzhou Philosophy Society, teachers and students of Marxist College of Guangzhou University and media reporters attended the meeting. Professor Li Shule, Secretary-General of School of Marxism of Guangzhou University and Guangzhou Philosophical Society presided over the meeting, Vice Chairman Tan Xiaohong and Professor Zhang Yanping delivered speeches respectively, and Professor Zhang Qixue, President of Guangzhou Philosophical Society made an academic summary.

Professor Guo Wenliang, School of Marxism, Sun Yat-sen University.Keynote speech on "Setting up a Model of Correct View of Party History".He believes that the historical nihilism in theoretical circles and society when evaluating the history of the Communist Party of China will affect the party’s ruling status and legitimacy, and it is of great theoretical and practical significance to establish a correct view of the history of the party in the study and practical research of the history of the party. He believes that establishing a correct view of party history,First of all, we must adhere to the guidance of Marxist theory and oppose the distortion and slander of the party history by historical nihilism.; Secondly, the study and research of party history must adhere to the unified understanding method of "two-point theory" and "key theory" and oppose the one-sided and simplified "one-point theory"; Finally, the study and research of party history must adhere to the principle of "based on the two resolutions of our party on historical issues and the relevant spirit of the CPC Central Committee, accurately grasp the main theme and mainstream essence of the party’s historical development, correctly understand and scientifically evaluate major events, important meetings and important people in party history", and oppose the grandstanding and hearsay paradigm of party history study and research.

First of all, we must strengthen our ideals and beliefs, keep our determination to pursue our dreams, and let the lofty pursuit of "revolutionary ideals are higher than the sky" become the spiritual pillar and source of strength for forging ahead in a new era and realizing great dreams. Secondly, we should strengthen the revolutionary fighting spirit and be brave in dealing with risk challenges. Finally, Chairman Zeng Weiyu made a summary of the meeting. She briefly reviewed the original intention, goal and significance of establishing Guangzhou Learning Salon.This paper mainly introduces the academic planning ideas of the eighth season study salon discussion. She pointed out that in the eighth season, the seminar of "Guangzhou Learning Salon" focused on studying the supreme leader’s Socialism with Chinese characteristics Thought in the new era.Focusing on studying and implementing the important exposition of the Supreme Leader’s General Secretary on the history of communist party in China, and following the themes of "knowing history, loving the Party, knowing history and loving the country", "keeping pace with the truth and keeping pace with the times" and "Jiangshan is the people, and the people are the mountains", six special study seminars were carefully planned and launched, aiming at promoting Guangzhou social science circles to learn history clearly, enhance their trust, respect history and practice, and set off a wave of learning and education on the history of Guangzhou social science circles, and draw the essence of theory from the Communist Party of China (CPC)’s century-long struggle.
She pointed out that at the historical intersection of the goal of "two hundred years", the social science theorists in Guangzhou should work hard to promote the study and education of party history with high standards and high quality and continue to deepen theoretical research and interpretation.
First, "Good Politics with Academics" tells the height of theory and the power of thought.It is necessary to thoroughly study and systematically analyze the distinctive features and glorious traditions of our Party’s adherence to building the Party with ideology and strengthening the Party with theory, do a good job in deepening the transformation, get through the channels of theory and public opinion, talk about politics with academics, and launch more high-quality and high-value academic products through the academic platform of "Guangzhou Learning Salon" to provide theoretical support for the supreme leader’s Socialism with Chinese characteristics Thought to take root in Guangzhou in the new era and bear fruitful results.
The second is to "guide public opinion with theory" and vividly tell the story of a century-old party.We should deeply understand the great contribution that our Party has made to the Chinese nation by uniting and leading the people, clearly understand the historical position of contemporary China, understand why the Communist Party of China (CPC) is "able", why Marxism is "good" and why Socialism with Chinese characteristics is "good", tell the story of the Communist Party of China (CPC) well through the academic platform of "Guangzhou Learning Salon", constantly enhance the vividness and closeness of research, discussion, publicity and interpretation, and promote the innovative theory of the Party to "fly into the homes of ordinary people".
