Used cars of Volkswagen Beetle, BMW MINI and Toyota were smuggled into China and sold nationwide.
CCTV News:After a 26-hour long-distance escort, on the afternoon of 26th, 57 suspects involved in the smuggling of second-hand cars investigated by Huangpu Customs all arrived in Dongguan. At this point, a criminal network chain that specializes in smuggling used cars has been successfully cut off.
At 6: 00 a.m. on July 25th, Huangpu Customs and Dongguan Public Security Bureau dispatched 546 police officers, and simultaneously launched network closing operations in 16 places including Yunnan, Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai. 24 places involved were investigated and 138 smuggled vehicles were seized on the spot.

The reporter followed the action group to arrest five major suspects, including Mao Moumou, at a second-hand car transfer station reported by Ruili Sister, and seized a large number of second-hand cars suspected of smuggling and fake license plates used for smuggling vehicles on the spot.
Huangpu Customs belongs to Shen Dongliang of Taiping Customs Anti-smuggling Branch.: "After the vehicles are modified through this transfer station, they will be smuggled and imported into China."

After careful management, the customs anti-smuggling personnel found that the smuggling gangs in Ruili, Yunnan Province, headed by San Mou and Wang Mohu, purchased old used cars of Volkswagen Beetle, BMW MINI and Toyota from Japan, Myanmar and other places, smuggled them into the country through the China-Myanmar border detour, and sold them to the whole country after transit in the mainland.
Huangpu Customs belongs to Wurui, the anti-smuggling branch of Changping Customs.On the one hand, they are used for collection, and some may be used for commercial display.
In addition, anti-smuggling personnel introduced that there are some domestic customers who directly take a deck of cards and drive directly on the road after buying used cars. It is understood that the Chinese government prohibits the import of used motor vehicles. The quality of illegally imported second-hand cars is generally not guaranteed. Some of them look new on the outside, but there may be various quality problems inside, and some of them are even refurbished from scrapped cars.

Up to now, all 57 suspects involved in the case have been arrested.
