Last year, the divorce rate of 3.841 million couples in China increased year by year.
A few days ago, the Ministry of Civil Affairs issued the Statistical Communiqué on the Development of Social Services in 2015. According to the communiqué, in 2015, civil affairs departments and marriage registration agencies at all levels in China handled 12.247 million marriage registrations according to law, down 6.3% from the previous year. In 2015, people aged 25-29 registered for marriage accounted for the largest proportion of the total married population, accounting for 39.4%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points over the previous year.
In 2015, a total of 3.841 million couples went through divorce procedures according to law, an increase of 5.6% over the previous year, including 3.149 million couples registered by civil affairs departments and 693,000 couples handled by courts. The crude divorce rate is 2.8‰ , an increase of 0.1 thousandths over the previous year.
According to media reports, the divorce rate in China has been rising since 2002. In 2002, the crude divorce rate in China was only 0.90‰ In 2003, it reached 1.05‰ By 2010, it will break through 2 & permit; . Current data show that the crude divorce rate in 2015 was 2.8‰ This is also more than three times that of 2002.
What is the crude divorce rate? Zhai Zhenwu, dean of the School of Social and Population Studies at Renmin University of China, said in an interview with Zhongxin.com that from a statistical point of view, the "crude divorce rate" here generally refers to the number of divorces or the logarithm of divorce divided by the total population in a certain period of time. It is called the crude divorce rate because the denominator should be the number of married people rather than the total population in the strict sense when calculating the divorce rate, but because it is difficult to count the total number of married people, the total population is used.
Family disputes remain at a high level, and divorce cases account for the majority.
Regardless of the statistical caliber, it is an indisputable fact that divorce in China has increased in recent years, and the high divorce rate is also reflected in a large number of marriage and family disputes.
According to the data previously released by the Supreme Law, in recent years, the cases of marriage and family disputes in China have always been running at a high level. From 2013 to the end of October 2015, nearly 4 million cases of marriage and family disputes were concluded by national courts, which gradually showed the characteristics of rapid increase in cases, difficulty in applying laws and difficulty in trial.
Among them, divorce cases also maintained a high level of operation. In December last year, Du Wanhua Du Wanhua, a full-time member of the Judicial Committee of the Supreme People’s Court, told the media that there were about 1.6 million cases of marriage and family in 2014, including more than 1.2 million divorce cases.
Specifically, taking Beijing as an example, according to media reports, Beijing courts accepted 38,619 first-instance family cases in 2014, of which divorce cases accounted for about half of all family cases.
Recently, the divorce data released by some local civil affairs departments also prove the high divorce rate in China. According to the Statistical Bulletin on the Development of Civil Affairs in Shandong Province in 2015 released by the Civil Affairs Department of Shandong Province recently, in 2015, the civil affairs department registered 185,000 divorces, an increase of 2.2% over 2014, and the crude divorce rate was 3.8‰ , an increase of 0.1 thousandths compared with 2014, and the largest number since 2007.
With the rapid development of society, the variables affecting marriage are increasing.
Why are more and more marriages breaking up?
Talking about the reasons for the rapid increase of divorce rate in China, Zhai Zhenwu said that on the one hand, it is related to the relatively low overall divorce rate. The previous divorce rate has been at a low level, so it will be particularly obvious as soon as it grows; On the other hand, it is also related to the changes in all aspects of China’s economy and society, as well as the changes in public opinion environment and social concepts.
Zhai Zhenwu analyzed that in 2002, the crude divorce rate in China was less than one thousandth, and horizontally, the divorce rate in developed countries was mostly four or five thousandths. Comparatively speaking, the divorce rate in China was relatively low.
"In the past, the environment on which marriage was maintained was relatively stable, and marriage was relatively stable." Zhai Zhenwu said that in the past decade, China’s economy and society have changed greatly, and various social environments have also changed greatly. These changes have had a certain impact on the conditions on which marriage depends. For example, personal economic status may change rapidly, and social aspects have also changed. In addition, the current population mobility rate is getting higher and higher, and marriage is relatively unstable among these variables.
Public opinion environment is more open, divorce is more free.
According to experts, the increase in divorce rate is also related to the public opinion environment and the more open personal concept.
Zhai Zhenwu said, "In the past, when a person mentioned divorce, people around him would talk about it and put some pressure on the divorced parties. Nowadays, the social environment is diversified and open, and the public’s decision on divorce and marriage has become easier, and the choice is not as cautious as before."
In this regard, there is a point of view that in a more open social environment, people should not make decisions about marriage and divorce rashly, but they should also respect individual freedom of divorce. Zhai Zhenwu said that if a marriage suppresses personal feelings or makes the parties dissatisfied, it may be more beneficial to personal feelings and development after divorce.
Some experts believe that there are legal reasons for the high divorce rate. Lawyer Li Hongzhao of Beijing Guanteng Law Firm told the reporter of Zhongxin. com that the promulgation of the third judicial interpretation of the Marriage Law has also weakened the degree of restraint of economic interests on marriage to a certain extent, and the degree of property losses caused by divorce has been greatly reduced, and the reduction of divorce costs has promoted the increase of divorce rate to a certain extent.
In addition, Li Hongzhao said that the high divorce rate is also related to the current personal independence and lack of tolerance and tolerance. Born in the 1980s and 1990s, most of them were only children. Due to the doting of parents and the improvement of living conditions, most of these people had smooth sailing in social life, without social exercise, which made many young people develop a mentality of self-centeredness, lack of family responsibility, and lack of tolerance and tolerance, which led to the increase of divorce rate to a certain extent.
