It’s hard to say the quality of imports: take a look at the "tricky" health care products industry in the United States

Original: Shi Juan returns to the park

In the article "It’s time to break the myth of multivitamins", we talked about that the quality of multivitamins cannot be guaranteed, and the products may not completely contain the elements indicated in the instructions, or may contain pollutants harmful to human body. How to find reliable health care products? This paper provides some methods for your reference.

Writing | Shi Juan

With the improvement of living standards, "health preservation" has become a daily topic for Chinese people. In addition to the old ways, taking all kinds of health products has become the best choice for many Chinese people, especially the elderly. A study shows that by 2023, the nutritional supplement market in China is expected to reach 40 billion dollars, which will replace the United States as the largest nutritional supplement market in the world. There are many kinds of health care products in China market, both domestic and imported. Many people like to buy "imported" health care products, especially those from the United States, and feel that the prices are affordable and the quality is guaranteed.

However, are all American health products really good?

The rise of American health care products market

Since 1994, the American health care products market has experienced rapid development: sales in 1994 were only $4 billion, and in 2018, it has reached $42 billion. To a great extent, this increase can be attributed to a federal bill passed in 1994, entitled Dietary Supplement Health Education Act [1]. This law was initiated by some politicians who are inextricably linked with health care industry’s economy. The protection of health care products manufacturers is far more than that of ordinary consumers, which makes health care products completely unnecessary like prescription drugs, and can only be listed after strict examination and approval.

This bill relaxes the industry regulations, so that Dietary Supplement (also known as health products, including vitamins, minerals, plant extracts, etc.) can be sold in pharmacies or supermarkets without the prior approval of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). After the product enters the market, if consumers report adverse events after use, the FDA will intervene in supervision. The FDA will also conduct product sampling inspection from time to time. If it is determined that the supplement is adulterated, the FDA can send a public warning letter to the manufacturer or recall the products sold.

If you carefully look at the regulatory content of health care products on the FDA website, you can summarize the following important points:

1) Health products don’t need the approval of FDA.

2) American federal law does not require health care products to prove to FDA that the products are safe before going on the market.

Note: it is not proof of "effectiveness"! You don’t even have to prove safety!

3) The manufacturer does not need to prove to the FDA that the effect marked on the health care product bottle is accurate and true.

4) Generally speaking, the FDA began to formally monitor health care products after they were put on the market. Monitoring is only aimed at whether this product will cause great side effects to people and so on.

5) It is illegal for health care products to advertise that "it can cure a specific disease or delay a certain symptom". This is why health care products usually do not say that they can cure a specific disease, but only generally say that they can improve "immunity" and so on.

There are a large number of health products in the market, some of which are produced by large companies and some from very small companies. The production specifications of different companies are very different. The number of health care products is a whole order of magnitude larger than that of drugs, but the resources for supervision are limited, which means that the quality and safety of these health care products can only rely on the conscience of manufacturers and distributors before problems are found.

01 consumer’s misunderstanding

Made in America?

In Chinese, we often think that the quality of health care products abroad (such as the United States and Australia) is good. However, things are not what we imagined.

Although most health care products sold in the United States are produced in the United States, their raw materials usually come from other countries, of which more than 60% are from China, and only the last step of assembly is carried out in the United States. Manufacturers will often change the source of raw materials, and different batches of the same vitamin from the same manufacturer are likely to have different raw materials. The FDA of the United States does not require the country of origin of the ingredients on the bottles of health care products, nor does it require the country of origin. It only requires the telephone number or address of the manufacturer or distributor for consumers to contact. Because the address is not necessarily the place where the product is made, it is impossible to tell where the health care product comes from just by looking at the medicine bottle.

Photo: American-made health products. But the raw materials used may come from other countries.

The following three common health care products are basically produced in China:

① 90% of vitamin C comes from China. Scots also produce a small amount of vitamin C, but the cost of raw materials is three times that of China, so the price is much more expensive than that from China.

② At present, there is no manufacturer of biotin in other countries except China. Many so-called "Made in America" biotin is actually imported from China, and then ground and processed, and turned into American production.

③ Pure folic acid mainly comes from China. Like biotin, many folic acid claimed to be produced in the United States are imported from China and then ground in the United States. The only exception is 5- methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF, a form of folic acid that is more easily absorbed and has better bioavailability), which is usually produced in the United States.

In the United States, the quality of health care products is also a big problem.

In 2015, the Attorney General’s Office of New York accused four major national retailers-GNC, Target, Walgreens (walgreen) and Walmart (Wal-Mart)-of selling fake and even potentially dangerous health products made of plant extracts [2].

The attorney general’s office tested the best-selling plant extract health care products on the shelves of these retailers, and found that four-fifths of the products did not contain any labeled plant ingredients, but only contained cheap fillers, such as rice flour, asparagus and indoor plant extracts (that is, artificially planted ordinary low-priced plants). In some cases, these substances may cause serious allergic reactions.

For example, Walgreens has a very popular self-produced brand of ginseng tablets, which claims to "improve physical endurance and vitality" and only contains garlic and rice powder. Walmart sells a ginkgo biloba extract, the real ingredients are radish, indoor plants and wheat flour, although the label claims that the product does not contain wheat and gluten. Of the six plant extract supplements tested by Target, three-Ginkgo biloba extract, St. John’s wort (St. John’s wort) and Valerian root-do not contain the ingredients on the label, but contain rice, beans and wild carrot powder. The same is true for GNC’s health care products, which use ingredients not indicated on the label as fillers, such as peanut and soybean powder, which is extremely dangerous for people with peanut allergy.

02

Natural = good?

There are still many people who think that health care products are mostly "natural" ingredients, so there will be no problem. However, even if it is extracted from natural animals and plants, the complexity of the animals and plants themselves (from the content of effective components to the pollutants that may be contained) and the industrial steps to be experienced in purification should be taken into account. Take some health care products made of plants, many different plants can be used to prepare health care products, but plants that look similar and are close in species may have very different effects. For example, many women take black cohosh extract to improve menopausal symptoms, but in the United States and Canada, consumers have suffered liver damage because the pills they take actually contain different substances with similar names.

"Natural" ingredients do not mean that they are good, and many natural substances are toxic. Toxic natural substances in food include cyanogenic glycosides in bamboo shoots, glycoalkaloids in potatoes, Furocoumarins in citrus plants (lemon, lime, grapefruit, bergamot), and many beans contain toxins called lectins. When the dose is reached, these natural toxins will cause many bad effects on people’s health, and some toxins will cause great damage as long as they are few. "Natural" ingredients are not worthy of superstition.

How to judge the quality of health products?

Because health care products don’t have to undergo rigorous clinical trials, there is actually no way to guarantee their effectiveness and safety, and there is no guarantee that they will not interact with any drugs you may take.

The only thing I can see is what is in this health care product. That is to say, does this health care product contain the ingredients it claims to have, the dosage is in line with the label, there is no pollution (such as lead and other heavy metals), and whether the ingredients can be released normally after taking the tablets.

Drugs can be tested for purity, so why don’t health products just do it?

Drugs are usually purified products, and the content of main components can even exceed 99.9%, with only a small amount of impurities. However, the ingredients of health care products may be very complex, sometimes containing dozens or even hundreds of different substances, many of which come from plants or other natural sources, which makes it difficult to detect the ingredients.

At present, the standard test method is to evaluate the components of health care products by chromatography. However, for complex products, the information obtained by chromatography is limited. Some new technologies, such as the combination of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, and other analysis, can obtain more accurate results. However, before these technologies are widely used, further verification is needed, and the cost must be reduced to be routine.

Drugs for treating diseases are supervised by FDA. Who wants to test the health care products that have been deregulated by the FDA? How credible are the quality inspection data published by the manufacturers themselves? The best way is to be tested by an independent, disinterested third-party organization, so that the data obtained can be convincing.

01

USP certification

You may notice that many health care products in the United States have the words "USP verified" on their bottles (pictured above). This means that the product is certified by an independent, non-profit scientist organization called "USP Dietary Supplements Verification Program". USP sets a quality standard for food ingredients and health care products, and then welcomes manufacturers to cooperate with them voluntarily and let them test their production facilities, processes and product quality. If it meets the standard, the product can bear USP verification mark. The organization also updates the certified brands and where to buy these products on the website in real time [3].

But be careful, some companies will put "USP" on the bottle label instead of the unique black and yellow "USP Verified" seal. These companies claim to meet USP production standards, but in fact their products have not been reviewed by USP. In fact, only a few health care products have "USP Verified" seal, such as some Kirkland brand health care products in Costco.

In addition, strictly speaking, USP can not be regarded as a truly independent third-party testing, which requires the voluntary cooperation of manufacturers.

national sanitation foundation

Another non-profit organization that independently certifies certain health products is NSF International. This organization will certify health products such as fish oil and multivitamins. In addition, it also has a "NSF Certified for Sport" project, which is particularly useful for athletes and people who use sports supplements (such as protein powder, amino acids and creatine), because it has been found that these products are sometimes intentionally doped with stimulants.

The blue and white NSF logo means that the product has been reviewed by NSF and contains the ingredients listed on its label.

03

Other test reports

There are also some independent laboratories that regularly test a series of health care products, and then publish their test reports on their websites, such as ConsumerLab.com, labdoor.com, cptclabs.com and so on. On their website, you can find many test reports and rankings of health products, but you usually have to pay to see them.

04

Third-party test plan of CVS in pharmacy

In 2017, CVS, a famous American pharmacy, announced that it had started testing health care products on its shelves, and had completed testing 1,400 health care products from more than 150 suppliers. Early test results show that 7% of the products are not up to standard, and the reasons include pollution, the content of active ingredients is lower than that indicated on the label, and various counterfeiting behaviors. Common fraudulent behaviors are:

1) Substitute cheap compounds for more expensive components.

For example, manufacturers sometimes add a large number of other common flavonoids, such as quercetin or rutin, to a health care product called Ginkgo biloba. These flavonoids can be found in ginkgo biloba, but the concentration is usually very low.

2) Add some prescription drug ingredients to health care products.

For example, viagra is added to some health care products that claim to enhance sexual function.

Figure: CVS’s third-party advertisement for testing the quality of health care products.

Take health care products with caution.

The certification test mentioned above is a reassurance to consumers. However, these tests often only measure a specific batch number of products, and it is still uncertain whether the next batch of products produced by the same manufacturer still meet the standards.

I want to remind everyone that many health care products have complex ingredients. Sometimes it will interact with the therapeutic drugs prescribed by doctors. For example, some health care products may change the activity of some enzymes in the liver, thus affecting the metabolic absorption of prescription drugs. The changed metabolism may increase the concentration of drugs in the blood and cause adverse reactions; Or reduce the drug concentration in the blood, making it ineffective.

A study in 2015 estimated that in the United States, about 23,000 emergency visits each year were adverse events related to dietary supplements [5]. It is best not to eat health care products casually, and should be carefully considered.

I spent the New Year in the Bay Area: Foshan Yanqiao spent the New Year enjoying the ancient charm of the country.

Say goodbye to the old year and welcome in the Year of the Tiger. Lion dance, big head Buddha, lantern festival, writing Spring Festival couplets … colorful folk activities, fragrant intangible culture everywhere; Rice cakes, fried dumplings, oil angle, sugar rings … steaming hometown flavor, happy Bay Area people. Follow the host into villages, towns, flower markets and ancient villages to unlock the Spring Festival features of seven Greater Bay Area cities, namely Shenzhen, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing, and show you different tastes of the New Year.

Increase knowledge! Besides eating jiaozi, you can still spend the Spring Festival like this.

Xinhuanet Beijing, February 14th (Wang Ying) In another day, we will usher in the long-awaited 30th anniversary. With the sound of firecrackers, the whole family is round and happy. As the most grand traditional festival of the Chinese nation, how do you spend your Spring Festival? Apart from eating jiaozi on holidays, how can we make the New Year taste and recall?

Clever hand-cut window grilles let the atmosphere of New Year flow naturally at home.

Before the festival, many families are busy preparing new year’s goods and buying new year’s gifts. In the new year’s goods, there are inevitably some festive objects that decorate the room, such as blessing characters, window grilles and auspicious pendants of the zodiac. In fact, in the past, there was no need to buy window grilles, and many families cut and pasted them themselves. On a square inch of red paper, a jubilant image was cut out.

"Window grilles" are commonly known as paper cutting. In the past, no matter the north or the south, stick grilles was used during the Spring Festival. Nowadays, people in the South usually only paste it when they get married, while the custom of stick grilles in the North during the Spring Festival is still prevalent in many places. Why do you want stick grilles for the Spring Festival? This is closely related to the solar terms in beginning of spring. Li Shangyin, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, once wrote in his poem: "Carving gold to win the praises of Jing and customs, and cutting green to create a Jin style for people." The "Jing custom" and "Jin style" in the poem point out this origin. After the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the time to cut and paste window grilles to welcome the Spring Festival was changed from beginning of spring, and people used paper-cutting to express their happy mood.

Window grilles not only set off the festive atmosphere, but also bring people beautiful enjoyment, integrating decoration, appreciation and practicality. Today, when DIY is advocated, if you are free, you might as well buy some red paper, try to cut small window grilles yourself, and decorate your home with skillful hands.

Writing Spring Festival couplets to keep the whole family safe and happy.

Like window grilles, in many families’ new year’s goods lists, there is also a Spring Festival couplets, and some exquisite families will also buy door gods. It’s a little more difficult for door gods to make their own self-control, but Spring Festival couplets can still try to write by themselves, which not only exercises calligraphy, but also improves the literary level.

Like window grilles, Spring Festival couplets have a history of thousands of years. According to the records of the Jade Candle Collection and Yanjing’s Chronicle, the original form of Spring Festival couplets is what people call "Taofu". In the Song Dynasty, people began to write couplets on the mahogany board, one of which did not lose the meaning of killing evil spirits, the other expressed their good wishes, and the third decorated the portal for beauty. Later, people wrote couplets on red paper symbolizing happiness and auspiciousness, and posted them on both sides of doors and windows during the Spring Festival to express people’s good wishes for good luck in the coming year.

In addition to Spring Festival couplets, many places also retain the custom of sticking to the door. In the folk, the door god is a symbol of righteousness and force. The ancients believed that people with strange looks often had magical temperament and extraordinary skills. They are honest and kind-hearted, and it is their nature and responsibility to catch ghosts and capture demons. Zhong Kui, the ghost hunter admired by people, is such a strange look. Because the doors of residential houses are usually two opposite, the door gods are always in pairs. After the Tang Dynasty, in addition to shentu and Yu Lei, people regarded Qin Shubao and Weichi Gong, two military commanders in the Tang Dynasty, as gatekeepers. Since then, the custom of taking these two famous men as door gods has begun to spread widely among the people.

In the sound of firecrackers, we should say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new year.

Watching the New Year’s Eve is an important folk custom in China, also known as wasting time, staying up late, which means family reunion on New Year’s Eve and staying up late to welcome the Lunar New Year. In ancient times, there were two meanings of observing the old age: the old people’s observing the old age means "resigning the old age", which means cherishing time; Young people keep their age to prolong the life of their parents. Since the Han dynasty, the time when the old and the new years alternate is generally at midnight. On New Year’s Eve, people of all ages, men and women, will be brightly lit and get together to watch the new year.

In the past, people used to have a New Year’s Eve dinner and spend a wonderful night together. Since the 1980 s, there has been a new content of observing the Spring Festival Gala: people all over the country watch it together. The Spring Festival Gala, which lasted more than four hours, was rich and varied, and people greeted the ringing of the New Year bell with laughter.

It is worth mentioning that Suzhou people have to wait for the loud bell coming from Fengqiao Hanshan Temple on New Year’s Eve. When the bell passes through the dark night and reaches thousands of families, it marks the arrival of the new year. No matter spring, summer, autumn and winter, the bell will ring in Hanshan Temple at midnight every day, which is called "Minute Night Minute" by the people.

  — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

On New Year’s Eve, we should give the younger generation lucky money and hope that the children will grow up healthily, safely and happily.

For children, the happiest thing during the Spring Festival is the lucky money from the elders. Year’s money, also known as "year’s money" and "year’s money", is one of the thrifty things in the old customs. The original intention of lucky money is to ward off evil spirits. People think that children are vulnerable to sneaky attacks. If you wrap money in red paper on New Year’s Eve, you won’t dare to harass them again. Therefore, people call this kind of money "precious money". Because "precious" and "old" have the same pronunciation, they are called "lucky money" for a long time. Use lucky money to overcome evil spirits, help children celebrate the New Year safely, and wish them good health and luck in the new year.

  — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

From the first day to the sixth day, I will pay New Year greetings, return to my parents’ homes, and "drive the five poor"

After New Year’s Eve, people ushered in a new year. In the past, from the first day of the first month to the fifteenth day of the first month, there were various holiday customs. With the changes of the times and the differences in different places, many customs have gradually faded away, and what remains is worth cherishing and inheriting.

On the first day of the first month, people usually set off firecrackers after getting up in the morning, which is called "opening the door to have a firecracker". After the sound of firecrackers, the ground is full of broken red, which is called "full house red" In many areas, children have to be dressed in new clothes on the morning of the first day. After everyone is dressed neatly, they will go out to visit relatives and friends, pay New Year greetings to each other and wish the New Year. When paying New Year’s greetings, the younger generation should first pay New Year’s greetings to the elders, wishing them a long and healthy life. The elders can distribute the lucky money prepared in advance to the younger generation. In many places, brooms and garbage are not put out on the first day of the first month of the first month, and a large bucket is prepared to hold waste water, and it is not spilled on the same day.

On the second or third day of the first month, for many families, it is the day when a married girl returns to her parents’ home with her husband, commonly known as "Welcome Husband Day". On this day, we will also visit relatives and friends and worship each other for the Spring Festival, commonly known as "eating New Year’s wine". In Shanghai, guests bring gifts to their homes with their families. Gifts are generally local specialties, and the host invites guests to drink "Yuanbao tea" (that is, two green olives are added to the tea to brew together). This tea tastes a little bitter at first, but has a sweet aftertaste, which means that it is good to make money through hard work.

On the fourth day of the third grade, because of different local customs, there are also differences in passing the law. By the fifth day of the fifth year, people will "drive the five poor", commonly known as "breaking the five poor", including "poor in intelligence, poor in learning, poor in literature, poor in life and poor in communication". After people get up in the morning, they set off firecrackers and clean up. Firecrackers are set off from the inside out, and as they are set off, they go outside the door, which means to drive out all unlucky things. Legend has it that this day is the birthday of the god of wealth, so it is also an auspicious day to welcome the god of wealth. Shanghai has the custom of grabbing the road head in the old calendar year. On the fourth night of the first month of the first month, prepare sacrifices, cakes, incense sticks and other things, and ring gongs and drums to burn incense for worship, and sincerely respect the god of wealth. In order to compete for the market, it is called "grabbing the road head" before the fourth day, also known as "picking up the God of Wealth".

Jiaozi still wants to eat, but jiaozi in the 30 s is very different.

Nowadays, people are used to eating jiaozi in festivals and festivals. Although it’s nothing new to eat jiaozi during the Spring Festival, jiaozi at the age of 30 is very different. When wrapping jiaozi, in addition to various delicious fillings, people often wrap candied beans, peanuts, dates, chestnuts, coins, etc., which means good luck in the coming year. In some areas, when eating jiaozi, some non-staple food should be added to show good luck. If you eat tofu, it symbolizes the happiness of the whole family; Eating persimmon symbolizes all the best; Eating three fresh vegetables symbolizes the prosperity of three yang. In addition, many areas in the south do not eat jiaozi on New Year’s Eve, but choose to eat rice cakes or glutinous rice balls. Although the ingredients are different, the good expectations for the New Year are the same.

Why do you have to eat jiaozi during the Spring Festival, especially on the eve of the Lunar New Year? In fact, eating jiaozi means "making friends at a younger age", and "zi" means "zi Shi", which is homophonic with "jiao" and means "happy reunion" and "good luck". Generally, jiaozi in the 30′ s should be wrapped before 12 o’clock in the evening and eaten at midnight, because this is the beginning of the first day of the first lunar month. Happy new year!

  — — — — — — — —

Times are changing, people’s ideas are changing, and the way of celebrating the Spring Festival is also changing. Nowadays, many traditional Chinese New Year customs are gradually forgotten by people, and some new Chinese New Year style, such as family trips and flying adventures in the world of ice and snow, have become many people’s choices. It is said that the taste of the year has faded, and there is nothing more special except eating jiaozi. In fact, the taste of the year is not weak, but what is weak is our choice. The Chinese New Year is coming soon. Follow these rich Chinese New Year customs and start a different kind of Chinese New Year with full atmosphere and deep connotation!

How far is the "spring" of China’s building repair market in the post-construction era?

On the evening of April 15th, local time, a fire broke out in Notre Dame de Paris, France. This 800-year-old medieval Gothic building immediately attracted the attention of the whole world. At present, the fire has been extinguished. Many French media reported that the short circuit of the wire on the top floor of Notre Dame de Paris may be the cause of the fire, and firefighters involved in the rescue said that the fire may be related to the renovation project of Notre Dame de Paris.

With the decrease in the number of new houses and the gradual improvement of infrastructure construction in China, experts predict that the future construction market pattern in China will gradually transition from the current focus on new buildings to the focus on the renovation and maintenance of existing buildings, and enter the post-construction era. In the impression of many people, the repair of buildings is often associated with ancient buildings. In fact, in the field of construction engineering, repair in a broad sense includes reinforcement, transformation, maintenance, decoration and so on; According to the repair specialty, it mainly includes: structural repair, leakage repair, external insulation repair, decoration repair and so on.

In addition to a wide range of fields, the number of buildings to be repaired is also considerable. The data shows that the existing building area in China is over 70 billion square meters. Due to the different construction technical standards and construction levels in different eras, in recent years, an average of about 2 billion square meters of buildings need to be repaired every year. However, compared with some developed countries, China has little investment in the renovation of existing buildings, and there are some problems, such as imperfect standard system, asymmetric market information, imperfect technical system and lack of long-term management mechanism. Judging from the proportion of market share in the whole construction industry, the construction renovation industry has not yet ushered in a real "spring".

Rising "sunrise industry"

In the past 40 years of reform and opening up, the construction industry, one of the pillar industries of China’s economy, has developed rapidly. According to statistics, the building area in China has increased by 91.4% in the past 20 years, and the existing building area has reached more than 70 billion square meters. With the development of society, the problem of housing shortage has been basically solved. However, in recent years, there are about 2 billion square meters of buildings that need to be repaired every year due to different construction technical standards and construction levels in different eras, so many people in the industry call the building repair industry "sunrise industry".

In July 2018, the insulation layer of the external wall of a residential building in Shunyi District of Beijing fell off due to sudden strong wind, injuring three pedestrians; In October, 2017, a concrete block fell off the outer wall of a residential building in Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, causing one death … Faced with frequent safety accidents, the industry is increasingly hoping to improve the prevention mechanism of existing building repairs to prevent injuries from happening again.

"The development of the construction industry can be divided into three stages: the first stage is large-scale new construction, the second stage is both new construction and repair, and the third stage is mainly the repair of existing buildings." Tan Chunli, director of the Repair and Decoration Professional Committee of Beijing Urban Construction Science and Technology Promotion Association, believes that compared with developed countries, China’s investment in the repair of existing buildings is relatively small, and it is still in the second stage. In the case of shrinking new building market, the building repair industry, which mainly focuses on old buildings, will become a "sunrise industry", and its market share will continue to expand and become a new economic growth point.

"The building repair industry is promising in the future." Yang Yongqi, a professor-level senior engineer of Beijing Urban Construction Science and Technology Promotion Association, believes that upgrading the safety performance of building structures and improving the functionality of houses will make people live more comfortable and comfortable, and building repair is consistent with the current people’s pursuit of a better life.

In September 2018, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued the "Notice on Further Improving the Preservation, Utilization and Renovation of Existing Buildings in Cities", which also highlighted that the practice of simply demolishing existing buildings in different periods in some cities separated the historical context of cities and cut off the homesickness memories of residents. All localities should fully understand the historical, cultural, technical and artistic value of existing buildings, adhere to the principle of full utilization and functional renewal, strengthen the preservation, utilization and renovation of existing buildings in cities, avoid one-sided emphasis on the value of land development, and prevent "demolition".

However, although the building repair industry has broad prospects, it also faces a lot of challenges for practitioners. He Xiling, president of Beijing Construction Engineering Quality Inspection and Housing Construction Safety Appraisal Industry Association, believes that there are great differences between new projects and the repair of existing buildings, which puts forward many new requirements for the industry. "Building repair requires experienced technicians, high-tech instruments and equipment, new construction technologies and new building materials."

It is urgent to establish and improve the institutional system.

"Because the country attaches great importance to ancient buildings and has a long development time, the standards for the repair of ancient buildings are relatively sound and the atlas is relatively standardized, and the local standards in areas with large stocks of ancient buildings are also easy to form a system. However, the repair atlas of houses mainly focuses on seismic reinforcement and structural reinforcement, and there are relatively few dedicated to waterproof and thermal insulation; In terms of standards, the relevant system has not yet been established, and some important standards have been around for a long time, such as the "National Unified Housing Repair Project Budget Quota (Civil Engineering, Ancient Buildings, HVAC, Electrical Appliances, Elevator)" promulgated in 1995. " Tan Chunli said.

In addition to the imperfect standards, there are still some problems in the market, technology and management of the building repair industry. At the market level, Tan Chunli believes that there are mainly problems such as information asymmetry. "At present, the repair market is in a decentralized and disorderly state, lacking an open and transparent platform, and the supply and demand sides can’t get effective contact in the repair market, and often there is a phenomenon of’ no one to seek medical treatment’ or’ going to the doctor in a hurry’. In addition, the industrial chain of the repair market is still not perfect, and the scale of repair enterprises is generally small, which cannot provide one-stop professional services from testing, maintenance to maintenance for building users. "

On the technical level, compared with new projects, repair projects involve many technical requirements and require a large number of professional construction technicians. "Professional construction technicians are the foundation for the development and growth of the repair industry. Only a large-scale professional construction team can support the complicated repair requirements of the repair industry." Tan Chunli believes that at present, experts in the repair industry have no smooth channels for suggestions and suggestions, and they can’t play a leading role in the development of the industry. At the same time, construction workers who lack technology can’t get effective training. In addition, the current repair technology is single, the technical level is uneven, and the technical system construction is relatively backward. Once there is a problem in the building, we can only treat the headache and the foot pain, but we can’t comprehensively and accurately evaluate the building to be repaired, and we can’t confirm the effect after the repair.

At the management level, there is a dead end in the supervision of building repair, and there are irregularities such as technical appraisal and acceptance, and the market is full of new materials and concepts, which makes it difficult for ordinary consumers to judge. In addition, a long-term management mechanism needs to be established. At present, there is a general lack of a unified management system for repair funds, reporting procedures, bidding, and especially the implementation of renovation.

With the continuous application of new technologies such as UAV reconnaissance, 3D printing and BIM in building repair, how to better develop the building repair industry in the direction of standardization, specialization and quality has attracted the attention and thinking of many people in the industry. To this end, 10 units including Beijing Urban Construction Science and Technology Promotion Association, Tsinghua University, Beijing Jiaotong University and Beijing Jianzhu University recently initiated the establishment of "Beijing Urban Construction Science and Technology Promotion Association Repair Hospital", hoping to play a better role in information, technology and platform, and promote the development of building repair industry.

According to Tan Chunli, who was elected as the president of the Repair Hospital, the purpose of the establishment of the Repair Hospital is to gather more industry experts, integrate repair resources, help solve the problem of "difficult to see a doctor" in the repair market, and provide all-round guarantee services during the whole life cycle of the building, including daily physical examination of the building, consultation of the building to be repaired, provision of professional "treatment team", supervision and acceptance of "treatment effect"

Groups of American tourists flew to Paris to sweep the goods, and the offline consumption in Europe and America returned to before the epidemic?

Despite the growing concern about the economic recession in Europe and America, the pace of retailers opening offline stores has not slowed down.

Recently, URW and Hammerson, the largest shopping mall operators in Europe, reported that their rental business revenues both exceeded the level of 2019 in the second quarter of this year.

The situation across the Atlantic is quite similar. Macerich, an American shopping mall operator, said that in the second quarter of this year, the number of leases signed by the company increased by 27% year-on-year, which was 47% higher than that in 2019. The company said that the current demand of retailers is at the highest level since 2015. DavidSimon, CEO of Simon Real Estate in the United States, said that in Las Vegas, Florida, California … … The demand of retailers is gradually picking up. "Even if something happens in the world, we haven’t seen anyone withdraw from the (lease) transaction." He said.

According to market research firm Coresight Research, so far this year, American retailers have opened a net of 2,478 offline stores. You know, last year, American retailers only opened 68 stores. In 2019, 9,832 American retailers closed their stores and only 4,689 opened.

Sun Xiao is currently working as a real estate investment manager in an investment management company in France, and he also feels deeply about the above phenomenon. "In Paris, offline stores such as luxury goods are long queues of consumers, which is quite similar to the situation before the epidemic."

In an interview with China Business News, he said, "With the slowdown of epidemic prevention policy and the arrival of the tourist season, everyone’s pent-up offline demand has been released. However, it remains to be seen whether this phenomenon will continue. In the case of inflation and interest rate hikes, the real income of European and American residents in the future may be affected, and the increase in service consumption may also squeeze the demand for commodity consumption. "

Retailers increase their efforts to open offline stores.

In recent months, with the high inflation and the tightening of monetary policy by European and American central banks, consumer retail in Europe and America has shown a weak trend. According to the latest data released by the German Federal Statistical Office, in June, Germany’s retail sales fell by 8.8% year-on-year, the largest annual decline since records began in 1994. According to data from the US Department of Commerce, in June, US retail sales increased by 1% month-on-month. Among them, the retail sales of clothing and accessories decreased by 0.4% from the previous month.

Simon Real Estate believes that the reason why European and American retailers open stores offline is slightly different from the macro environment is because consumers’ consumption behavior has diverged. In the context of high inflation, the enthusiasm of young consumers with relatively poor incomes may decline, which is reflected in the slowdown in sales of retailers such as Fast Fashion. However, the sales of retailers such as men’s suits continue to grow. "Consumers with relatively high incomes are still spending money." Simon said.

This phenomenon is also supported by the data of the recent luxury goods earnings season. In the first half of this year, Hermes’ revenue increased by 23%, LVMH’s revenue increased by 21% and kering’s revenue increased by 16%. Generally speaking, luxury goods are mostly sold offline. The above luxury brands said that their sales in Europe and the United States have increased substantially. With the arrival of the tourist season, the euro has weakened, and luxury stores in Paris and Milan are now crowded with American tourists who come to "sweep the goods".

Zhang Yi, CEO of Ai Media Consulting, said in an interview with the First Financial Reporter that during the epidemic, many European and American governments provided more "stimulus checks" to the people through financial and monetary policies. At present, European and American consumers, especially middle-and high-income consumers, still accumulate more savings, which is the main reason to support the above-mentioned middle-and high-end consumption.

According to Moody’s rating agency, as of May, the total excess savings of American residents was about 2.5 trillion US dollars, accounting for more than 10% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP)..The agency found that compared with the middle and high income groups, the residents with the lowest income of 20% were one of the few groups that did not use their savings in the first quarter.

Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, said in the middle and late July that the savings accumulated by households in the region during the epidemic and the strong labor market are supporting consumption in the region.

Douglas Healey, senior executive vice president of Macerich leasing business, also said that another reason for promoting the expansion of offline stores is that Europe and the United States have gradually loosened epidemic prevention policies, the restoration of tourism has arrived, and the consumption scene is gradually returning from online to offline. For example, sports brands such as Fabletics and AloYoga, shoemakers and furniture chain stores are all seeking to expand their business by opening physical stores.

Sun Xiao also believes that although consumption in France is becoming increasingly online, the commercial value of offline stores cannot be ignored. Stores can provide advertising and offline experience, and retailers’ online image can also be improved by visiting physical stores. In the process of offline shopping, physical stores can reduce delivery costs and enhance consumers’ brand awareness of stores, which makes up for the lack of only online consumption scenarios.

A study by Nielsen, a market research organization, also found that online channels are an important means to compare prices, research new products and find physical stores. But in addition, other factors are often ignored, which limits the possibility of maximizing the use of these physical channels by merchants to realize the complementarity of online and offline channels.

Is it possible for consumers to keep returning to the offline?

Macerich said that the company recently conducted a survey of about 30 largest tenants in the country and found that about 90% of the tenants have not changed their plans to open new stores this year. URW also said that its rent collection rate in the third quarter reached 88%, and the most difficult period may have passed.

According to a report released by Forrester2, a market research organization, if 2020 is the outbreak year of online retail in the United States, then 2021 is the outbreak year of offline retail in the United States, and the growth rate of online retail sales will gradually fall back to the pre-epidemic level in the future. It is estimated that by 2027, the total retail sales in the United States will reach 5.5 trillion US dollars, and the total offline retail sales will reach 3.9 trillion US dollars.

However, in Zhang Yi’s view, there are many challenges that restrict consumers in Europe and America from returning to the tropic of cancer in the future. One of the major factors is that with the gradual slowdown of epidemic prevention policies, service consumption is gradually increasing, which may squeeze consumers’ demand for commodity consumption.

In the hotel industry, Airbnb recently said that the continued high booking price helped the company achieve strong revenue in the second quarter. From April to June, the company’s revenue reached $2.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25%. Among them, the number of overnight and experience bookings on the platform reached 103.7 million. Airbnb expects that the revenue in the third quarter will reach the highest level in history. Earlier this week, the hotel giant Marriott Group reported a 70% year-on-year increase in revenue in the second quarter. Last week, the performance of Hilton Hotels Group also exceeded expectations.

In the aviation industry, in the second quarter of this year, the parent company of British Airways — — International Aviation Group (IAG) announced its first profit since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic. Air France-KLM, one of the three major European airlines, also announced that its operating profit in the second quarter reached 386 million euros, an increase of 1.139 billion euros over last year. The performance data released by the three major airlines in the United States in the second quarter and the first half of the year show that the revenue and profit rate of the above companies in a single quarter are all record.

But behind this prosperity, there are also hidden concerns. Sun Xiao told the First Financial Reporter that inflation in Europe and America is high at present, and it is still possible for the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank to adopt more radical monetary tightening policies in the future, which will hit demand. Specifically in the field of consumption, this will be reflected in the impact of residents’ income and the decline in consumption power, which will likely drag down the sales of offline retail.

O’Hearn, CEO of Macerich (; Hern) also believes that inflation, rising interest rates and the situation in Ukraine are bringing uncertainty to the economic environment.

According to data from retail analysis company Placer.ai, in June, American people’s visits to the outlet center decreased by 6.7%. According to the agency’s analysis, the reason is that the price of gasoline in the United States continues to rise, and residents drive too long to the outlet. Everyone is reluctant to go to the shopping center because they want to save fuel.

Recently, Fed officials have intensively released "hawkish" remarks. Mary Daly, president of the San Francisco Fed, said that the Fed’s fight against inflation is "far from complete", which indicates that interest rates will continue to rise. He also said that the major interest rate hikes this year do not mean that the Fed will gradually slow down the pace of interest rate hikes. Loretta Mester, president of Cleveland Fed, and Charles Evans, president of Chicago Fed, said on the same day that the United States may still adopt a relatively tight monetary policy until inflation cools down.

In the highly competitive compact SUV market, Titanium 3 is expected to open up a world of its own with its unique product positioning and differentiation advantages. With the official launch and delivery in April, it is believed that Titanium 3 will attract more consumers’ favor by virtue of its hard-core strength, trendy and cyber style, and set off a new trend in the automobile market, becoming another best-selling model of BYD, helping Equation Leopard brand to achieve greater success in the market.

China Spring Festival, let the world understand the warmth and affection of "home"

  Li Xuemei

If there is no "home", most traditional festivals in China will lose their souls. This is especially true during the Spring Festival. China’s stories related to "home" all tell the warmth and affection, touching the people and the world.

In the early morning of January 21st, at Beijing Railway Station, passengers were waiting to leave on the K4051 train from Beijing to Nantong. On the same day, Spring Festival travel rush was officially launched in 2019. Xinhua News Agency reporter Xing Guangli photo

During the Spring Festival, the warmest word is "going home"

There is nothing like going home to wash the dust and comfort the hard work for a year.

Therefore, Qian Shan is also a smooth road.

In 2019, the number of passengers sent in Spring Festival travel rush is expected to reach 2.99 billion. In the documentary "China New Year" filmed by BBC, foreigners once marveled: "The Spring Festival in China witnessed the largest annual population migration activity on earth, and one sixth of the world’s population returned to their hometowns to reunite with their families." CNN once said that during the Spring Festival travel rush in 2016, the average travel distance of China tourists was about 410 kilometers, and the total mileage of Spring Festival travel rush reached 1.2 billion kilometers, which was equivalent to a vacation to Saturn.

The wanderer’s affection is as long as the way home, and the weight of affection is as heavy as the luggage back and forth. During the period of Spring Festival travel rush, Xiamen Airlines transported about 13,000 pieces of luggage every day, with a cargo weight of 14 tons. Bags and small bags, what’s in Spring Festival travel rush’s package? There are clothes for the elderly, gifts for children, and the taste of a year. What’s in the suitcase when I return from the Spring Festival? There are local products of rice flour, grain and oil, and there are concerns about "children traveling thousands of miles".

There are not only wanderers on the road in Spring Festival travel rush, but also the old people and children become migratory birds in Spring Festival travel rush. 40 Jin handmade vermicelli, 4 fried chicken and 10 Jin sesame oil, these are the luggage of an old couple in Zhengzhou. They are going to their son’s house in Xinjiang for the New Year, and they only buy station tickets and have to stand for 42 hours. Sixty or seventy pounds of oranges and 30 orange trees. This is the luggage of Uncle Zhu in Chengdu. My son has settled in Henan, and he will go to Henan for the Spring Festival this year.

East, west, north and south are roads, and the place where relatives are is home. Standing, sitting or lying down is a gesture of love, and big bags and small bags are heavy love.

On January 23rd, Cheng Hongyi, a post-80s courier, rode an electric car to deliver the courier on the streets of Hohhot. Because of his work, Cheng Hongyi has not returned to Hulunbeier’s hometown to spend the reunion year with his parents for five consecutive years. This year, in order to take care of colleagues from other provinces, Cheng Hongyi once again chose to be on duty during the Spring Festival. Xinhua News Agency reporter Peng Yuanshe

During the Spring Festival, the three most affectionate words are "I will stay"

No matter how far the road is, there is no home you can’t go back to unless you choose to stay. Those who stayed chose to let others go home first.

"Find leaders and colleagues to change classes this year, take a vacation and try to go home." This Spring Festival, Guo Jingjing, the post-90s train conductor of Xiamen EMU in Fuzhou Passenger Transport Section, wrote a blank check to his parents. She said: "Every year in Spring Festival travel rush, there are many people who are homesick, but every position is indispensable."

Guo Jingjing, a foreigner, said that if she didn’t get on the bus on New Year’s Eve, she might cook instant noodles alone. However, if you are on the train, you will see the passengers who are rushing back with the New Year bell and the old people who are pulling her home all the way. "It feels like a lively year."

During the Spring Festival, there are countless people who are on duty like Guo Jingjing. We can’t name them, but we know that they are public security armed police, peacekeeping troops, medical staff, sanitation workers and courier brother & HELIP; …

Home can be very small, with three meals for two people in one room and four seasons; Home is actually very big, Fiona Fang is 9.6 million kilometers, and there are nearly 1.4 billion sisters and brothers. "Small family" needs "everyone" to defend, and the realistic beautiful life needs to be created together. Behind the strangers who stay behind, there is a family, and they are loving "everyone" with the feelings of home and country.

During the Spring Festival, the four words that are more warm and affectionate are "one family under the world"

It is the blood and family that keeps going, and the common destiny that can’t be earned.

More than a month before the Chinese New Year, Wei Ya, a programmer working in Toronto, Canada, went to the local Chinese supermarket to prepare the word "Fu", couplets and red lanterns for the Year of the Pig. In her view, the Spring Festival bears a deep homesickness of overseas Chinese, and "it must be lively, festive and prosperous".

"lifting myself to look, I found that it was moonlight, sinking back again, I thought suddenly of home", the Spring Festival in China bears countless wanderers’ yearning for their loved ones and their attachment to their motherland. As the Spring Festival approaches, Xinhuanet has received the most affectionate blessings from countless overseas Chinese and overseas travelers from all over the world, including overseas Chinese chambers of commerce, overseas Chinese groups, overseas university friendship groups, medical aid workers from chinese peacekeepers and China, and China’s overseas institutions at all levels … … Send back the most sincere wishes and warmest greetings to the people of the motherland with micro-video. They let the world see Chinese’s infinite attachment to his "home", his deep affection for his motherland, and Chinese’s cohesion and unity.

"the moon, grown full now over the sea, brightening the whole of heaven" and the Spring Festival in China are also burning the world more and more. On the eve of the Spring Festival, Xinhuanet also received many sincere wishes from politicians and celebrities from all over the world to China. China Spring Festival elements are burning all over the world. The United Nations issued a stamp sheet of China Lunar Year of the Pig; A well-known chocolate manufacturer in Australia introduced chocolate in the shape of a pig; Vietnam has launched "Lucky Fruit", where customers can engrave letters on fruits such as mango, papaya and grapefruit to wish the new year prosperity and happiness … …

"In recent years, western society has paid more and more attention to the Spring Festival, a traditional festival in China." Bian Jun, president of the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce in Sydney and executive chairman of the Australia-China Business Summit, said, "Lion dance, lantern festival, cultural performance … … From the beginning of the year to the fifteenth, various communities and local governments will hold a variety of Spring Festival celebrations. "

"The United States and the United States are United, and the world is one." Spring Festival lets the world know China, and Spring Festival lets China influence the world. Today, when all countries share the same fate, you have me and I have you, when globalization becomes an irreversible trend of the times, and when the desire for peace, tranquility, prosperity and development becomes the common voice of people all over the world, the Spring Festival in China has become a symbol bearing the beautiful feelings of mankind, a common hope for "one family" and a common pursuit of peaceful development. China Spring Festival, let the world understand our warmth and affection for "home".

Building "One Belt, One Road" People’s Livelihood Project to Enhance People’s Livelihood and Welfare

People’s livelihood project is an important way to quickly enhance the people’s sense of gain in building the "Belt and Road" countries. Over the past nine years or so, a large number of cooperative projects have been implemented steadily, which has helped the people of the country to improve their lives and increase their income, forming a grounded and popular cooperation result.

"The Fifth Bridge further facilitates our travel"

Overlooking the Maldivian island from the air, five bridges lie on the blue waves like jade belts. The bridge is full of traffic, and pedestrians stop from time to time on the specially set aside sidewalk. At the end of last year, the Five Bridges project, which was built by china state construction engineering corporation, was opened to traffic, which greatly facilitated the lives of local people and became a new business card for Hulu Male.

Hulu Male Island, which means "land near Male", is an island that was reclaimed by stages to relieve the land shortage in Male, the capital of Maldives. It is also the most important emerging city in Maldives and is praised as "the city of hope" locally. However, for a long time, there was only a temporary wooden bridge between the first and second islands of Hulu Malé as a passage, which made it very inconvenient for residents to travel. China state construction engineering corporation’s five-bridge project between two islands has become a "dream bridge" to facilitate local people’s life.

The longest span of the five bridges is 53 meters. Although the project is small, the technical content is not low. During the construction process, the project team overcame unfavorable construction conditions such as high temperature and high humidity and the influence of COVID-19 epidemic to ensure the smooth completion and delivery. Ahmed Masif, the owner of the Fifth Bridge Project, commented: "China enterprises have strong execution, meticulous control of progress and strict requirements on quality and safety. Our cooperation has once again achieved success. "

"In the past, the road near the small bridge was simply paved with sand, and the cars came and went on sunny days, and the dust was everywhere; Rainy days are pitted, dirty and messy, and it is not safe. " Uweishi, a fashion designer who lives in Male, often travels between the first and second islands of Hulu Male because of his work needs. He said that with the completion of the Fifth Bridge, people could no longer complain about the traffic between the two islands. "Thanks to China enterprises. A few years ago, Chinese enterprises also built the China-Ma Youyi Bridge, so there is no need to take a ferry from Male to Hulu Male. Today, the Fifth Bridge further facilitates our travel. "

The five-bridge project in Daifu, Jeanmart, realized the interconnection of two densely populated reclaimed islands, which promoted the development of commercial and cultural tourism in the surrounding areas. Hassan, a local youth, opened a restaurant on the second island of Hulu Malé, and walked straight north along Bridge 1 for less than 200 meters. "After the bridge was opened to traffic, my small restaurant was flooded with customers every day, and its operating income increased a lot." Hassan said.

"Five bridges are the best viewing platform." Gu Ruisha, a resident who lives in the first phase of Hulu Malé Island, said that after the completion of the Fifth Bridge project, the family will take their children for a walk on the bridge in their leisure time. "It is much more convenient to travel at ordinary times and the life on holidays is more abundant." Nina, a Maldivian girl, said: "China enterprises have built houses, bridges and other projects in Hulumale, which have enriched the face of the city and improved our lives."

  "Don’t worry about water anymore."

Out of the door, a brand-new water pipe poked its head out of the corner of the yard. Turn on the tap and clear water gurgles out. In a few minutes, Bab Malik fetched a bucket of water and went back to the house. He picked up a bucket full of water and walked into the sheepfold and poured it into the feeding trough of the lambs. "With running water, it’s really convenient to use, and you don’t have to worry about water anymore!"

Earlier this year, the second phase of Deha water supply project in Mauritania, which was undertaken by China Power Construction Group Port and Shipping Construction Co., Ltd., passed the acceptance test, and Babmalik’s family who lives in Timberland, a small town in East Hood Province, used tap water for the first time.

Mauritania is located in West Africa, with a hot and arid climate, less precipitation and small groundwater reserves. "Living in this area, water has always been a big problem. You have to put on a donkey cart and walk back and forth for several kilometers to get water from an open-pit well. The family is always worried about how to drink water and how to cook. " Bab Malik’s family has three children and elderly people. It is an important task for the family to fetch water. "Not only is it troublesome to take water, but it is also difficult to ensure water hygiene. Now, there is clean water when you turn on the tap at home. "

Deha water supply project covers the whole territory of East Hood province, and transports abundant groundwater resources in Deha area to many towns such as Neima, Timberland, Tigny, Lewina, etc. The total length of cast iron pipelines and PE pipelines is about 326 kilometers. It is understood that the daily water supply of the project can reach 10,000 cubic meters, which can solve the drinking water problem of nearly 340,000 people.

At the completion ceremony of the project, Mohamed, Minister of Water Resources and Water Treatment of Mauritania, personally tasted the first sip of water supplied by the pipeline and spoke highly of the project effect. "The successful implementation of the Deha water supply project has improved the living conditions of residents. Everyone can drink clean and hygienic tap water more conveniently, and adequate water sources will also promote the development of animal husbandry, which is of great significance for improving people’s livelihood. "

Because of the Deha water supply project, Bab Malik also learned a skill, got a job and earned more income. "Since China enterprises came here, we have gained many job opportunities. I learned to drive with my friends in China, and now I am very skilled. " Bab Malik said. Coupled with the newly raised lamb, he calculated that his income has increased several times than before. "The problem of children going to school and supporting the elderly can be solved."

"Now we have saved the time to take water, and everyone has more energy to work!" Bab Malik said that during the implementation of the project, enterprises in China also donated living and medical materials to local residents to help improve local infrastructure. "I hope more China enterprises will come to Mauritania to build more Huimin projects!"

"People are willing to come here for medical treatment"

Kiel Maillard Dieter Women’s Hospital (hereinafter referred to as "Kiel Hospital") in Rumbek, the capital of South Sudan’s Lake State, was built by China, and was once damaged by the war after it was put into operation. Since 2017, the Government of China has implemented technical assistance projects to Kiel Hospital, and sent technical experts to South to carry out daily repair, maintenance and technical training services, thus making the hospital look brand-new.

On the basis that the first phase of the project has helped the hospital to restore some functions, the second phase of the technical assistance project team has carried out maintenance on the overall facilities of the hospital since 2019.

Power shortage seriously affects the normal operation of hospitals. Zhang Xiaotian, the leader of the second phase technical assistance project team, introduced that the project team used the existing conditions of the hospital to carry out circuit transformation, and realized 24-hour power supply for the operating room through diesel power generation and two solar power supply equipment.

"In the past, hospital conditions were limited, and sometimes only flashlights could be used for lighting during surgery. The project team introduced solar energy technology to make the operating room power supply all day. The project team also renovated the hospital for us and installed and debugged new digital X-ray machines and other medical equipment, which greatly improved our medical conditions and working environment. " Dr. Dutt of Kiel Hospital said.

In order to realize the sustainable operation of the hospital, the project team also compiled training materials, operation manuals, maintenance manuals and other materials, and offered professional training in civil engineering, electric power, water supply and drainage, medical equipment maintenance and X-ray machine operation, so as to cultivate all kinds of skilled personnel for the hospital and improve its independent operation ability.

Ma Kui, a hospital logistics employee, participated in the technical training program, and also participated in the implementation of various ancillary projects. Today, he has been able to independently carry out civil construction and handle daily maintenance and repair matters, and is known as "Engineer Ma Kui". "I learned a lot of skills from my friends in China. It was a great work experience." Ma Kui said.

"The hospital is clean and beautiful, and people are willing to come here for medical treatment, which makes us proud." Marbaud, a medical worker, said.

"Thank you for your contribution to hospital renovation and technical training." Victoria Anib Majur, Deputy Minister of Health of South Sudan, specially wrote to thank the experts from China. She said: "With the selfless support of China, the medical conditions in South Sudan have been significantly improved. We look forward to the smooth implementation of new projects such as the second phase of the reconstruction and expansion of China-aided Juba Teaching Hospital, helping South Sudan improve its disease prevention and control capabilities and enhance people’s livelihood and well-being. "

Struggle for a century, set sail for a new journey, and record a 70-year-old man and 109 heroes’ monuments with the national "two excellent and one first"

Xinhua News Agency, Changchun, August 1st. Title: A 70-year-old man with 109 heroes monuments.

Xinhua News Agency reporter Jin Jinxiu

"I want to leave a place for future generations to commemorate the martyrs and let the heroic stories be passed down from generation to generation … …”

In Wangqing County, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, there is such a 70-year-old man who persisted for 16 years and rushed to build 109 monuments for the martyrs who sacrificed in this revolutionary land.

"Jindalai in the mountains, the monument to the martyrs in every village", now more red seeds take root and sprout at the foot of Changbai Mountain, just like Jindalai flowers all over the mountains, red and hot.

  Monument repairer in revolutionary land

["Compared with the martyrs, what is this hard work!" 】

The 74-year-old Jin Chunxie is now the director of Wangqing County Committee for the Care of the Next Generation. In 2005, Jin Chunxie retired and did not enjoy the leisure time after retirement. He took the initiative to set up a monument for the anti-Japanese heroes for more than ten years.

He can’t forget the scene when he first saw the grave of Tong Changrong, secretary of the CPC East Manchu Special Committee in 2005 — — In the dense forest, small earthen bags less than one meter high are only surrounded by small stones, covered with weeds, and only one’re used for identification. "Tong Changrong went to the Northeast to resist Japan. He died heroically at the age of 27, but he didn’t even have a decent tombstone." Jin Chunxie couldn’t help crying.

According to historical records, during the Anti-Japanese War, there were 105 battles in Wang Qing, including 177 tombs of anti-Japanese martyrs and anti-Japanese joint sites, where more than 600 anti-Japanese soldiers were buried. Jin Chunxie found that many young people did not understand this history and could not name the martyrs. So he made up his mind to build a monument for the martyrs, "not to let history break in our generation."

I heard that it was a monument to the martyrs, and everyone stepped in to support it. Jin Chunxie often bows and thanks: "I thank you for more than 600 martyrs who died in this hot land!"

In order to save money, from design to construction, Jin Chunxie personally went into battle, "rubbed" on various engineering vehicles to and from the construction site, and ran more than a hundred times in quarries hundreds of kilometers away. In 2010, Jin Chunxie was infected with hepatitis C, and the side effects of drugs made him sleepless, itchy all over, losing a lot of hair and losing more than 20 kilograms. Even so, he refused to delay the construction period. People around you said they didn’t understand: why did you toss about when you could have spent your old age safely?

"Compared with the martyrs who gave their lives, what is my hard work!" Jin Chunxie replied like this.

  A narrator of heroic stories.

  [A person "red" a city]

In 2011, Tong Changrong Martyrs Cemetery was completed. Driven by Jin Chunxie, the local government accelerated the construction of martyrs’ monuments and anti-Japanese sites. In the past ten years, 109 monuments have been erected on this land that was once stained with the blood of martyrs. And Jin Chunxie has more plans — — Write books and biographies for the anti-Japanese soldiers, and leave the heroic deeds of the heroes and heroes that make people cry for future generations.

"Jin Dage gets up at 4 am every day and starts to work. Over the years, he has traveled to more than ten provinces and cities to collect historical materials." Lang Lianfu runs a local iron art company. In 2018, Jin Chunxie found him and mobilized him to create a red picture book together. Lang Lianfu picked up his "old job" and completed four comic books with three other art teachers, all of which were donated to the society for free. "Encouraged by Jin Dage, the more we work, the more energetic we are!" He said.

Compile more than 1 million words of historical materials, draw a picture book of the Anti-Japanese War, and shoot a biographical film of heroes and heroes … … Jin Chunxie went around looking for anti-Japanese war veterans and descendants of martyrs, walked more than 20 thousand kilometers and wore out more than a dozen pairs of rubber shoes. Jiao Chunmei, deputy director of the training department of Wangqing Patriotism Education Center, said that at first, volunteers were only old comrades of the Committee, and now three generations from all walks of life have joined, and the team has been growing.

In 2015, Jin Chunxie was rated as the national "model of the times"; In 2019, it was selected as "the most beautiful struggler"; In 2021, he was awarded the title of "National Excellent Communist party member" … … Jin Chunxie’s persistence caused strong repercussions in the local area. With the support of the local Party committee and government, Wang Qing excavated red resources, built a patriotic education base and developed a series of red tourist routes, which attracted a large number of tourists from inside and outside the province.

"Old Jin Chunxiao is alone ‘ Red ’ A city. " Xu Hailan, member of the Standing Committee of Wangqing County Committee and deputy magistrate, said.

  Sowers of the Red Faith

["Let the red gene continue from generation to generation"]

"In 1932, Tong Changrong led the special committee to move from Wangyugou in Yanji County to Macun … …” Before and after July 1st, there was an endless stream of tourists visiting the ruins of Xiaowangqing’s anti-Japanese guerrilla base. At the scene, the 11-and 12-year-old lecturers told the story affectionately, and people gave thumbs up one after another.

They come from more than 1,400 young commentators trained locally. For more than a decade, Jin Chunxie has lectured on nearly 100 patriotic education classes in various places and held 21 photo exhibitions on patriotic education for young people.

Inspired by Jin Chunxie’s red education, in 2010, the fourth primary school in Wangqing County established the first "Tong Changrong Hero Squadron" in Wangqing County. In 2017, with the approval of the National Red Army Primary School Construction Engineering Council, the school was renamed as "Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants Jilin Wangqing Tong Changrong Red Army Primary School". At present, 42 primary and secondary schools in the county have set up heroic squadrons (classes) to carry out revolutionary traditional education.

At the beginning of this year, Huang Ruiqi, an art teacher of Luozigou Town Central Primary School in Wangqing County, who was born in the 1990s, joined the volunteer team and participated in many thematic art exhibitions such as anti-union and anti-epidemic. Recently, she grabbed her spare time to create oil paintings, showing the hardships of martyrs climbing the ice and lying in the snow, and praising the great rivers and mountains of the motherland. "Grandpa Jin Chunxie took us into history and let the younger generation understand that a happy life should be cherished and the red spirit should be passed on." Huang Ruiqi said.

Compilation of Memorabilia in the History of the East Manchuria Anti-Japanese War, and revision of the new edition of "The Fallen Remains" … … Talking about this year’s work plan, the 70-year-old man is hale and hearty. In order to collect historical materials and better spread Wang Qing’s red story, he not only learned to type with a computer, but also went into the live broadcast room to record a short video.

"Let the red gene continue from generation to generation." Jin Chunxie said.

Sports sudden death is mostly cardiogenic!

In recent years, some of the news about young people’s sudden death occurred at work, and some occurred during marathon, fitness, running and other sports.

"The main cause of sudden death from exercise is sudden cardiac death (81%), most of which is caused by potential heart diseases. Brain-derived sudden death accounted for the second cause of sudden sports death (17%), mainly including cerebrovascular malformation, aneurysm or hypertension. " Chen Luyuan, chief physician of the Department of Cardiology, Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital, pointed out in an interview with the Health Times reporter in 2019. ①

Zhang Daimin, deputy chief physician of the Department of Cardiology, Yifu Hospital affiliated to Nanjing Medical University, said in an interview with Zi Niu News in 2022 that sudden death during exercise is mostly caused by the rupture of some plaques of blood vessels, resulting in myocardial ischemia and myocardial infarction. Especially when you are in a state of fatigue for a long time, the probability of this situation will be higher. There are three main reasons:

  First of all, after a long period of fatigue, the body’s immune system function declines, and the whole body will be in a more fragile state;

  Secondly, after a long period of fatigue, combined with the increase of blood pressure, blood lipid or blood sugar, these factors will induce the rupture of vascular plaque;

Third, under the stress state such as exercise, the factors of vasoconstriction increase, which also increases the probability of vascular plaque rupture. Many unfavorable factors are concentrated in fitness under long-term fatigue, which is very prone to some cardiovascular diseases. ②

There is a "black triangle" for sudden death, so don’t put it together!

Guo Jihong, chief physician of Cardiovascular Department of Peking University People’s Hospital, said in the Health Times article in 2013 that sudden death has a "black triangle", and sudden death can occur when one of these three corners appears, and the probability of sudden death is higher in two places and more dangerous in three places.

  1) The lower corner has had cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy and heart failure;

  2) In the other corner below, there was an abnormality in ECG;

  3) The apex is internal environment instability, autonomic nerve instability, sympathetic nerve excitement, electrolyte disorder, etc.

The bottom two can still be checked out, but the top one is "unstable internal environment" and emotional instability. Excitement, anger and fatigue are often inducing factors, so you should pay more attention to it at ordinary times. ③

We should know that long-term stress, hostility, smoking, lack of sleep, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity and so on will increase the excitement of sympathetic nerves. ④

People who are in good health and have no physical examination problems may have sudden cardiac death when they are in a state of high fatigue and high tension. In an interview with Health Times in 2019, Xu Zhimin, deputy chief physician of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of Xinhua Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, reminded the majority of young people that they should learn to pay attention to their physical condition, adjust their emotions in time, and avoid excessive tension and fatigue, especially not to engage in tiring behavior or work at night. ①

Stay away from sudden death and do these 5 points at ordinary times!

  1. To know your heart health, physical examination is very important.

You can set up a heart health file for yourself. Middle-aged people, in particular, should have an "annual inspection" of cardiovascular system. In addition to electrocardiogram, dynamic electrocardiogram examination, color Doppler echocardiography and exercise electrocardiogram can help to find myocardial ischemia, arrhythmia, abnormal heart structure, evaluate heart function and help to find coronary heart disease early. Of course, it’s up to the doctor to decide what specific tests need to be done. ⑤

  2. Identifying sudden death signals is not untraceable.

Chen Luyuan, chief physician of the Department of Cardiology, Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital, pointed out in an interview with the Health Times reporter in 2019 that most of them had clinical symptoms a few days before sudden death. For example: transient chest tightness, chest pain, fatigue and palpitation. This kind of palpitation is a sudden sinking of the body, or a feeling of flickering. The time is about three or five minutes, which quickly passes and naturally returns to normal. Especially unexplained syncope, such as dyspnea, irritability, sweating, abnormal snoring, etc. In this week or so, it is possible that the above situation will happen. ①

Don’t stay up late, make sure you get enough sleep.

In healthy young people, if they lack sleep for a long time and suddenly engage in high-intensity exercise, they may increase the risk of acute cardiac stress and heart disease.

Ruan Xiaoyun, the pharmacist in charge of the Pharmacy Department of central hospital of wuhan, said in the Health Times article in 2016 that staying up late often will make people’s sympathetic nerves and parasympathetic nerves in a state of dysfunction, which will increase the incidence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, especially for some people who have no symptoms at ordinary times but have high work pressure and unhealthy lifestyle, which leads to low resistance. Under the stimulation of high temperature, it is more likely to cause arrhythmia and promote lack of blood circulation. Once the blood supply to the brain is insufficient, it will lead to hypoxia, so it will suddenly syncope, which is triggered. ⑥

Don’t be too tired, learn to relax yourself when you are stressed.

First, don’t make yourself too tired in work and study. Be sure to leave time for relaxation and don’t sit for a long time. According to the report on the health effects of overwork published in Environment International in 2021, compared with the standard working hours of 35-40 hours per week, people who work 55 hours or more per week have a higher risk of ischemic heart disease and stroke. Undoubtedly increased the risk of sudden death. ⑦
